Sarnaya Foods Exports

We're situated on 5th Street in Padmanabhan Nagar, over in Adyar. Sarnaya Foods Exports is a small operation where we spend our days dealing with food shipments. It gets pretty warm here in Chennai, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning. The office is just a regular room with a few computers and a lot of shipping labels. We spend a lot of time on the phone with farmers and transport guys. It’s mostly about making sure things get packed right and don't sit around too long. Food is a tricky thing to move because you have to be careful with the timing. We’ve had our share of delays and headaches, but that’s just part of the export business. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, which is a nice change from the busier parts of the city. We don't have a huge staff, just a handful of people who have been doing this for years. Sometimes we have to stay late to coordinate with different time zones. It's not glamorous work, but it feels good when a shipment finally leaves. We keep a stash of snacks in the back room for when things get busy. Most of our day is spent checking weights and prices. It’s simple work, really, even if it gets stressful when a truck is late. We just take things as they come and keep the records straight.
