Sagar Caterers

Our business is located over at 51/14 on Ujjini Street in Ayanavaram. It’s a bit of a tight spot, but we make it work. Sagar Caterers is mostly just me and a few other guys handling the cooking and the deliveries. We started out small, just doing food for neighbor’s birthdays and small gatherings around this part of Chennai. Nowadays we take on bigger stuff, but we still work out of the same kitchen. It gets very busy in there, especially on weekends when everyone seems to have a function at the same time. There’s always huge bags of rice and vegetables being moved around the floor. You won't find a fancy office here. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to come to Ujjini Street and find us in the middle of prep work. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and we can't answer it because our hands are full. Our main goal is just getting the food delivered on time to the venues. It’s a lot of sweating over big stoves and making sure the packing is done right so nothing spills in the van. People in Ayanavaram know us by word of mouth mostly. No big advertisements or anything like that are needed. We just focus on getting the orders finished and out the door. It is a lot of work but we have been doing it for years now and know the streets well.
