Saba Eng Works

Saba Eng Works is situated at 6, Muthaiya Kovil Street. It is a small workshop that has been around for quite a few years. We do engineering jobs, mostly fixing parts or making small components. The place is full of heavy machines and tools that have been used many times. It smells like machine oil and metal in here. We don't have a lobby or a fancy entrance. You just walk straight into the work area. We spend our days at the lathe or the welding bench. It’s dusty and noisy work. My hands are usually covered in grease by the end of the day. We don't mind it because it's what we know how to do. People from the neighborhood bring in all sorts of broken things. We take a look and try to find a solution. We don't promise anything we can't actually fix. Muthaiya Kovil Street is a quiet place usually, except for the sounds from our shop. We have an old radio that plays some music to keep us going. We don't have a big business plan or a marketing budget. Our work is our advertisement. If we do a good job, people tell their friends. It’s a simple way to run a workshop. We just focus on the metal and the machines. We’ve been part of this street for a long time and we like it that way.
