S P Hema Tutorial Academy

Our academy sits on Valluvar Kottam High Road in Nungambakkam. It’s a busy part of Chennai, but we’re tucked into building number 137, quite close to Independence Park. Most of the time, the students come in and talk about the heat or the crazy traffic before they finally settle down at their desks. We’ve been here for a bit, helping students with their regular school work and some extra bits they struggle with. The space is simple. We have a few rooms with benches and wooden tables. It’s not a corporate environment; it’s more like a place where you can just come in and ask a question without feeling nervous about it. We focus on the syllabus, trying to cover what the teachers at school might have missed or what the kids didn't understand the first time around. Sometimes we run out of blue chalk or the markers go dry right in the middle of a lesson, but we manage to keep going. It’s a bit noisy when the park nearby has an event or a walkathon, but usually, it's just the sound of pages turning and us explaining math or science. We don't have fancy brochures or a front desk person to greet you. Usually, one of us is teaching and also answering the door or the phone. It's a small team, and we know most of the parents by name because they've been coming here for years with their different children. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out.
