Rohit Driving School

This branch of Rohit Driving School is over on Arimuthu Street in Triplicane. It’s very close to the railway station, so you can always hear the trains passing by while we sit and talk. We’ve been teaching people how to drive around these narrow lanes for a good while now. Triplicane is very crowded, so if you can learn to drive here, you can probably drive anywhere in the country. We have a few instructors who are very patient, even when the students grind the gears or forget to check their mirrors. The cars are basic, nothing fancy, just what you need to pass the official test. We meet early in the mornings often because the roads are a bit quieter then and it's better for the nervous ones. We do the theory bits in the small office and then head out for the practical part. There’s always a lot of tea drinking and chatting while waiting for the next student to arrive. We know most of the shopkeepers on the street by name. It’s a friendly spot. We don't do much advertising at all; mostly it's just people telling their cousins or neighbors about us. Getting your license is a big step, and we just try to make it less of a headache. Sometimes the traffic is so bad we barely move, but that’s just life here in Chennai. We’ll keep at it.
