We are situated at No 136 on the 4th Cross in Ragavendra Garden. It is a nice spot because we are right near Thiruvani Kovil, so many people stop in after they have finished their prayers at the temple. Our shop is quite small and filled to the brim with various powders, snacks, and kitchen staples. I usually have a small radio playing old songs in the background to keep me company. The wooden counter is worn down and scratched from years of use, but I wouldn't want to replace it. We do not use any modern computer systems here. I just know the prices of everything by heart and use a pencil to mark the totals on the paper bags. Sometimes my children come by after school and help me pack the smaller items into packets. It is a very friendly neighborhood, and I spend a lot of time chatting with the customers about their families. There is a stray cat that likes to nap near our front door in the afternoons, and we usually leave a small bowl of milk out for it. It is not a complicated business, just a local shop providing things the community needs every day. We open early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down.
