Raja Driving School

It’s been quite some time since we set up Raja Driving School here on Rama Rao Street. If you know the T. Nagar area, you probably know how busy it gets around Somasundaram Play Ground. We are right near there. Most mornings start early because that is when the traffic is a bit thinner and people like to practice before they head to work. We have a few cars we use for the lessons. They aren't brand new or anything, but they work fine and we keep them clean enough for everyone who comes by. Dealing with the Chennai heat and the narrow lanes around here is just part of the job every day. Sometimes students are nervous when they first sit in the driver's seat, which is normal. We just sit there and go through the basics until they feel okay about it. It’s mostly local people from around the neighborhood who come to us. We don't really do much fancy stuff, just showing people how to handle the clutch and brakes properly. The playground nearby usually has kids running around, so we tell everyone to be extra careful when they are starting out. The office is small, just enough for some chairs and the paperwork we have to keep track of for the licenses. It’s a simple setup. We spend most of our hours out on the road anyway. That is just how it is here. Most people find us just by walking past the playground and seeing our sign.
