R. K. Traders

We are R. K. Traders, located at 90, Amman Koil Street in Kondithopu, Jeorge Town. This part of Chennai is incredibly old and very busy. Our shop is right in the middle of the local market bustle. We trade in various items that people in the neighborhood and surrounding areas need. It is a small storefront where we keep our stock piled up. Some days it is hard to even walk through the aisles because of all the boxes. We don't have a marketing strategy. Most of our customers are people who have been buying from us for years, or they are folks who just happened to be walking by Amman Koil Street. The building is old and sometimes the ceiling leaks a little when the monsoon hits, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. It is a very human way of doing business. We talk to everyone who comes in, mostly about the weather or local news, while we weigh their items. We aren't trying to be a big chain or anything. We just like being a part of Jeorge Town. The work is simple: we buy things in bulk and sell them in smaller amounts. It is what our family has done for a long time. There is no corporate ladder here, just us and our customers. We open up the shutters every morning and we stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. It is just how life is.
