Hindustan Hardware

Hindustan Hardware is our shop over at No 291/A on MTH Road. We are in Mannurpet, which is part of the Padi area in Chennai. It’s a busy industrial stretch. You can hear the trucks and buses on MTH Road all day long. We’ve been operating out of this location for a lot of years. The shop is filled with all sorts of hardware items, from nuts and bolts to bigger tools. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know exactly where every single item is kept. If you ask for a specific size of screw, we can find it in a minute. We mostly serve the local workshops and factories around Padi. People just stop their bikes outside and come in to grab what they need for the day's work. It gets quite dusty because of the road, but we try to keep things clean enough. We don't really have a big staff. It’s just a few of us. We talk to the customers, hear what they’re building or fixing, and give them the right parts. There’s no fancy marketing here. We don't even have a computer for most things, we still use a notebook for a lot of the notes. It’s just an old-school way of doing things. We like it that way. If you're looking for us, just look for the hardware sign on the main road. We try to open early because the workers in the area start their shifts before nine.
