Pushpa Tools & Hardware

Post Office Street in Parrys is always a bit of a scramble. If you’re looking for us, keep an eye out for New No 73, though some people still use the Old No 37. It’s easy to get confused with the way the numbers changed around here. Pushpa Tools & Hardware is packed floor to ceiling. We have things tucked away in corners that haven't seen the light of day in months. It’s a narrow space, so we’re always bumping into each other or the stock. The air smells like metal and cardboard. Most of our day is spent climbing ladders to grab something off a high shelf for a customer who walked in from the crowded street. It’s loud outside with the sounds of Parrys, but inside we just focus on the hardware. We don't bother with fancy displays or lighting. A few fluorescent tubes do the job just fine. We keep a ledger on the counter to track what goes out, and sometimes the ink smears if our hands are a bit sweaty from the heat. It gets really warm in the afternoons, so the ceiling fan stays on high. We’ve got a small area in the back for a water cooler and a place to sit for a minute. People come in looking for specific bolts or tools, and we usually know exactly where they are buried in the bins. It’s just how we run things here. No fluff, just lots of hardware and busy days on Post Office Street while we work through the heat.
