Being in Mylapore means dealing with narrow lanes and a lot of history. Our address can be a bit confusing because of the old and new numbering—we’re at New No: 31, which used to be Old No: 16. It’s on the 2nd Lane of Nattu Subbaraya Mudali Street. At R. J. Industries, we’ve gotten used to giving people very specific directions so they don’t get lost in the maze. The office itself is tucked away, which is nice because it’s a bit quieter than the main roads. We have a small crew and most of us have lived in this part of the city our whole lives. There’s a temple nearby, so we often hear the bells in the morning. Our space is pretty cramped with files and equipment, but it feels lived-in. We don't have a polished corporate image. We’re more likely to be seen in our shirtsleeves trying to fix a jammed printer than giving a presentation. Life here is steady. We handle the manufacturing side of things without much fuss. The tea lady comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a real break. We aren't looking to expand into some glass tower. We like being part of the Mylapore fabric. It’s a practical place to work, even if the streets are tight and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint.
