R G Home Foods is situated at 11A, Parvathi Nagar. We are right in the middle of the Old Perungalathur neighborhood. It is a quiet residential street for the most part, except for when people are coming and going for work. Our place is basically a kitchen where we spend most of the morning and afternoon cooking and getting everything ready. It is not like a big factory or a restaurant with a lot of tables. It is much more like a regular house that has been turned into a food workspace. You will see big pots on the stove and people chopping vegetables on the tables throughout the day. The air always smells like ginger and garlic because that is what we use the most. We started here because we wanted to do something close to home in Parvathi Nagar. The neighborhood knows us well by now, and you might see a few of the staff members sitting outside on the porch taking a break when it is not too busy. The floors are a bit slippery sometimes from all the cooking, and the kitchen gets really hot in the summer months. We just keep the fans going and keep working. It is a straightforward operation without any big corporate rules. We just make the food and get it out to where it needs to go. Old Perungalathur is a nice place to be based, even when the rain makes the street a bit muddy and hard to walk on.
