Proton Ateliers

We are over in Anna Nagar West Extension, at No: 366 Brindavan on 39th Street. It is in the Tvs Avenue area, right near Chennai Public School. If you see the kids heading to school, you know you are in the right place. Our workspace is pretty simple. We spend a lot of time on drawings and thinking about how buildings should look and work. It is an atelier, so it is really just a workshop for us to do our thing. We have got desks, some models, and a lot of pens that always seem to go missing when you need them. The neighborhood is okay, usually a bit quieter than the main roads which is nice for when we need to focus. We don't really have a big sign or anything flashy outside. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they live nearby. We spend our days sketching and talking to contractors on the phone. Sometimes we are here late at night because that is just the way the work goes. It is not always glamorous. There is a lot of boring stuff like permits and checking measurements over and over. But we like the process of it all. We just show up and do the work, trying to make things that make sense for the people who will actually use them. That is us. Just a small group trying to build things.
