Phoenix Architect

Phoenix Architect is situated at 27 Jamal Sowcar Street in Chennai. This part of the city is always buzzing with activity. Our office is right in the thick of it. It’s a warm place, both because of the Chennai sun and the way we have things set up. There are piles of drawings on almost every surface and the smell of old paper is everywhere. We have a couple of ceiling fans that stay on from morning until night. We don't have a fancy logo on the wall or a big glass entrance. It is just a doorway on a busy street. We spend our time drafting plans and talking to contractors on the phone. Sometimes the noise from the street makes it hard to hear, but we are used to it by now. We usually have some filter coffee nearby while we work. People from the neighborhood drop in to ask about building permits or how to fix a damp wall. We don't give them a big sales pitch. We just tell them what can be done and what can't. It’s honest work. We have been at this address for quite a while, and the routine hasn't changed much. We start early to beat the heat and stay until the job is done. It’s just a small team of us doing our bit in the city, and we keep things simple for everyone who walks through the door.
