I have my architecture office at 22/11 Muthial Street in the Little Mount area of Chennai. It is a busy little street and finding a parking spot can be a real headache some days. I have been practicing as an architect here for a long time, and my office is just a simple room filled with rolls of ammonia prints and old files. Little Mount is a good central location, even if the traffic nearby on the main road is always stuck. I do not have a big staff, so I usually handle the site visits and the drawing work myself. My desk is a bit of a mess with pens and scales scattered everywhere, but I know where everything is. Clients come by to discuss their house plans, and we usually sit around a small table with some tea while we look at the blueprints. Chennai is a tough place to build because of the heat and the humidity, so I try to keep that in mind with every design I make. I do not use any fancy software for everything; sometimes a hand sketch is just better for explaining an idea. It is a straightforward business and I do not see the need to make it sound more complicated than it is. I just focus on the drawings and making sure the building gets finished the way it was supposed to be.
