Opus Interiors

To get to us, you have to climb up to the 3rd floor at number 11 on Driver 4th Street. We are right near the Egmore Eye Hospital in Puthupet. It’s a bit of a climb, especially if we’re carrying samples or small pieces of furniture up the stairs. Opus Interiors is basically a big room full of fabric swatches, wood pieces, and sketches pinned to the walls. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. The light is actually pretty good up on the 3rd floor, which helps when we’re trying to match colors. Puthupet is a busy area, so there’s always the sound of horns and people shouting coming up from the street. We usually have a fan going to keep the air moving because it gets stuffy under the roof. Most of our day is spent at the big central table, moving things around and trying to figure out what fits where. We have tools scattered around—tape measures, levels, and plenty of pencils that always seem to go missing when you need them. It’s a working studio, so there’s usually some sawdust on the floor or a bit of glue on the table. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and music. It’s just us in our work clothes, trying to make things look decent for the next project. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s where we do our best thinking. If the stairs don't bother you, it's a quiet enough place to work.
