Onload Gears is based over at the Sidco Estate in Ambattur, specifically at units 432 and 433. If you’ve been to Ambattur, you know it’s a massive place full of factories and small workshops. Our spot is right in the thick of it on Yadaval Street. The main thing you notice when you walk in is the oil. It’s on the machines, the floor, and usually our hands. We make gears, so everything is about precision, even if the building itself looks a bit worn down. We have these big cutting machines that run almost all day. The noise is constant, a kind of rhythmic grinding that you get used to after a week. We don't have any air conditioning, just some big industrial fans that mostly just move the warm air around. The workers here are good people, mostly from around the city, and we all know the routine. We spend a lot of time measuring things with calipers and making sure the teeth on the gears are just right. If we mess up even a little bit, the whole part is junk, so we have to be careful. We aren't a corporate giant; we are just a machine shop that’s been here for years. We do our work, grab some coffee at the shop around the corner, and head home tired. It’s a long day, but it feels good to see the finished gears stacked up.
