Nanthini Cool Bar

Ayanavaram is always hot, and being on K.H. Road means there is never a quiet moment with all the buses and bikes. Nanthini Cool Bar is where people stop when they just can't take the heat anymore. We have a couple of big refrigerators that hum loudly all day long, filled with sodas, water, and milk packets. The glass on the fridge is usually covered in condensation, so you have to wipe it to see what’s inside. We also keep some snacks like chips and biscuits on the racks near the door. It’s not a place where people sit down for a long time; it’s more for a quick drink or a snack on the go. We have a small sink in the back where we wash the glasses, and the floor is usually a bit wet from people coming in and out. The blue paint on the walls is faded, and there are some old posters for film stars that have been there for years. In the afternoons, when the sun is really hitting the front of the shop, we pull down the bamboo blind halfway to keep the glare out. We see all kinds of people, from workers taking a break to students from the nearby schools. It’s a simple business, just keeping things cold and serving whoever walks in through the door. We don't have a menu or anything, people just ask for what they want and we get it for them.
