Mukanna Foods

Down at 12 Shanmugam Street, you’ll find us working at Mukanna Foods. We are right in the heart of Royapettah. It is an old part of the city and the streets are quite narrow. We have been operating out of this same building for quite some time. It is not a very large space, so we have to be careful about how we stack things. If you aren't careful, you might trip over a crate. The neighborhood is always loud with scooters and people talking. We like being part of the noise. Our daily routine is pretty much the same every week. We arrive, open the doors, and start checking what needs to be moved or sold. There is no one here with a fancy suit. We just wear what is comfortable for moving stuff around. Royapettah has a lot of history and we feel like we are just one small part of it. Shanmugam Street is a busy place to be. We often spend our afternoons just organizing the back room or talking to the delivery drivers who stop by. We don't have a website that does much, and we don't spend money on ads. People just know where we are because we have been at number 12 for so long. It is a simple business. We do the work, we close up, and we come back the next day to do it again.
