We are tucked away in Flat No. 5 of the Heritage Vijaydranagar building, Phase 1. It’s on Veerapandya Kattaboman Street in Perungudi, Chennai. It’s a bit of a residential-feeling area, so it doesn't feel like you’re walking into a cold, heartless business district. Mpowerenergy Associates is a small operation, and being in a flat means we have a kitchen and a bit more of a homey vibe than most offices. We mostly deal with energy-related stuff, which means there’s a lot of technical talk happening around the lunch table while we eat. The heat in Chennai can be something else, so the AC is usually working overtime in Flat 5 to keep us from melting. We’ve got some charts on the walls and a few desks crammed into the main rooms. It’s a bit of a tight fit when we have visitors, but it makes for a close-knit team that knows what everyone else is doing. Most of our day is spent on the computer or on the phone, trying to coordinate things across the city. Sometimes we take a walk down Veerapandya Kattaboman Street just to clear our heads and get some air, even if it is very humid. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small one so people can find the right door when they come to see us. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place where we just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay cool while we work through our list.
