Our office is tucked away on 1st Street in Alagiri Nagar, over in the Vadapalani area. It’s a bit funny because we have two house numbers, the new one is 16 and the old one is 23, which sometimes leads to delivery people getting lost on the way here. The street is usually lined with parked scooters and it has that typical neighborhood feel. We aren't in a big glass tower; it’s just a regular building where we’ve set up our workspace. Inside, it’s mostly just desks and a lot of tangled wires. We don't spend much time on the decor. There are some old calendars on the wall and stacks of papers that probably need filing. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a relief during the hot Chennai months. We are a small group and we mostly just keep to ourselves and get through the work. There is a small tea shop at the corner where we usually take our breaks. It’s a practical place to work from because it’s close to the main parts of Vadapalani but still on a side street. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist in a suit. If you walk in, you’ll just see us busy at our screens. It’s a straightforward, no-frills kind of environment where we just focus on getting our daily jobs done.
