Manu Cottage Industries

Manu Cottage Industries is tucked away on Ramanathan Street in Kilpauk. If you are looking for us, we are quite close to Pachayappas College, which is a big landmark in this part of Chennai. Our address can be a bit confusing because of the old and new numbering systems on the door, but most locals know the building. We handle a lot of cottage industry work right from this spot. It’s a bit of an old-school way of doing things, but it works for us and the people who come to see us. The street gets quiet sometimes, but other times there is a lot of traffic from the college students walking nearby. Inside, it’s mostly just a workspace filled with tools and materials we use every day. We don't have a big reception area or shiny signs everywhere. It’s a functional place where we focus on the jobs at hand. We have been in Kilpauk for quite some time now and have seen the neighborhood change a lot. The trees on the street give a bit of shade during the summer. We like being part of this community. When we aren't working, we're usually just tidying up the shop or chatting with people who drop by. It’s a straightforward life here. We don't use any fancy machinery that does everything for us. A lot of what we do involves manual effort and just paying attention to the details. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing.
