Maamis Kitchen

Maamis Kitchen is located at number 34 on the East Coast Road in Thiruvanmiyur. Being on the ECR means we see a lot of people passing through, either going into the city or heading out towards the coast. Our place is quite small and we try to keep it feeling like a normal home kitchen as much as we can. We don't have any professional designers or anything like that. We just put some tables and chairs together and started cooking. The area around Thiruvanmiyur is usually busy, and the salt air from the sea sometimes makes things rust a bit faster, but we keep on top of it. We don't have a massive menu. We just make the things we are good at making. It’s mostly just a few of us in the back doing the cooking and one or two people helping out front. We don't use any fancy language to talk about our food. It’s just what it is. Sometimes we run out of certain items because we only make a limited amount each day. We think it’s better that way rather than having stuff sit around until it isn't fresh. If you’re driving down the ECR, you might miss us if you’re going too fast. We aren't a big flashy building, just a local kitchen doing its daily thing for the neighborhood and the travelers who stop by for a quick bite.
