Lifetime Careers is based in Chennai. We don't have a massive glass building or anything like that; we just operate out of a standard office space in the city. Our day usually starts around nine, and we spend most of it talking to people about their jobs and what they want to do next. It’s a lot of listening and taking notes. The office gets quite loud during the middle of the day when the phones are ringing and people are coming in for their appointments. We have a small tea area where we take breaks and catch our breath. Chennai is a big place with lots of different industries, so we see all kinds of people walking through our doors. We’ve been doing this for a few years now, and the team has stayed pretty much the same. We don’t use a lot of fancy jargon; we just try to understand what someone needs and see if we can help. The walls are mostly bare except for a few calendars and some old notices. We don't have a big marketing budget, so we just focus on the people who are actually in front of us. It’s a straightforward business, really. We deal with the ups and downs of the job market just like everyone else. It’s hard work, but it feels good when we can help someone figure out their next move in their career.
