Laxmi Engineers

Finding us at C-2, A-1 GIDC isn't always easy if you aren't used to how the plots are numbered in Odhav. We are right behind the A.E.C. Zone, which is a big landmark for anyone around here. Laxmi Engineers has been operating out of this shed for years. It’s dusty, and there is always the smell of welding in the air. We do a lot of repair work and basic engineering stuff that people in the industrial estate need. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside on the plastic chairs until it comes back on. That’s just part of life in the GIDC. My brother and I run the place mostly, with a couple of helpers who come in from the nearby colonies. We don't have a big sign, just the address painted on the wall near the gate. There’s always a pile of old iron rods and rusted parts in the corner that we mean to clear out but never do. Most days are spent hunched over a lathe or trying to fix a pump that someone brought in. It’s honest work, even if it’s messy. The tea stall at the corner of the zone makes the best ginger tea, and that’s where we get our news. We don’t do much marketing or anything; people just know we are here at Laxmi Engineers and show up when they have a problem with their machinery. It is a noisy place, but we like it.
