Kusum International

Perfect Mansion is the name of the building where we are, at 1, Philips Street. It sounds a bit grander than it actually is, but it’s a solid old place. Kusum International has been here for quite some time now. Our office is tucked away, so it’s actually a bit quieter than you’d expect for this part of the city. We have a lot of samples lying around on the tables. It can look a bit disorganized when we are in the middle of a big project. We spend a lot of our time on the computer or writing letters. The internet goes out sometimes and then we just have to wait or use our phones to stay connected. We have a small window that looks out onto the street, and it’s interesting to watch the people go by. We’ve got an old clock on the wall that ticks quite loudly, which you only notice when it’s very quiet. Most of our work is about managing the details and making sure the shipping dates are met. We don't have many walk-in customers since we deal more with larger orders. Sometimes the courier guy is late, and we have to wait around for him before we can lock up. We usually bring our own lunch and eat together at the big table in the back. It’s a simple routine, but it has kept us going all these years without much trouble. We just do our work and go home.
