You’ll find Kumar Hardware at No.74/81 A on Thiruvalluvar Salai, right in the heart of Teynampet. We are situated quite close to Siet College, so the street is always full of students and buses. Our shop is quite small and every inch of wall space is covered with shelves. We have everything from different sizes of nails and screws to paints and plumbing fixtures. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than a couple of people come in at once. We don't have a fancy computerized inventory system. If you ask for something, we usually just know which corner it’s tucked into. We’ve been here in Teynampet for a long time and have seen many shops come and go. We have our regulars who stop by for a chat even if they don't need to buy anything that day. The shop gets a bit dusty because of all the items sitting on the shelves, but we try to keep it as tidy as possible. We don't have a website or an app. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. It’s a very traditional way of running a hardware store. We enjoy being part of the neighborhood and helping people find the right tool for their home repairs. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us busy from morning till night. We just sell things one screw at a time.
