Grace Engineers is right here in C1 Industrial Estate in Guindy. It’s been a while since we set up the machines in this corner. The walls have some stains from the oil over the years, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with metal all day. Most mornings start with the sound of the shutters going up and then the hum of the lathe machines taking over. It gets pretty loud, and the heat in Guindy doesn't help much either. We usually have a few fans going, though they mostly just move the warm air around. People come in with drawings or sometimes just a broken part they need fixed. We spend a lot of time looking at calipers and making sure the threads are right. There’s a lot of scrap metal piled up near the back door that we have to clear out every month. The tea guy comes around at eleven, and that’s when most of us take a five-minute break to stand out on the road. It’s not fancy or anything like those offices you see in the city. Just a workshop with tools, some grease on our hands, and a lot of work to get through before the sun goes down. The floor stays dusty no matter how much we sweep, but the machines are kept in decent shape because that’s what actually pays the bills here. We just focus on the job at hand.
