Down in Choolaimedu, we’re located at what used to be Old No 17 but is now New No 20. It’s on Baai Koil 3rd Street, just off Anna Nedum Pathi. Finding the place can be tricky because the street numbers in Chennai get confusing sometimes. We’ve been here for a while, handling all the elevator work for this side of town. The office is small and usually smells like old paper and grease from the parts we keep nearby. It’s a hot neighborhood, so we keep the fans going all day. There’s always someone coming or going, usually technicians heading out to a job site. We don’t have a big sign out front, just a plain door. Inside, it’s just us doing the paperwork and coordinating where the crews need to go next. The street outside is narrow, so it gets jammed up with bikes and delivery carts quite often. We don't have a lot of frills here. It’s just a place to work. Sometimes the rain floods the street a little, and we have to step carefully. We know the local shopkeepers and the people who live in the apartments around us. It’s a real neighborhood feel. We just do our best to keep things moving and make sure the lifts we look after don't stop. It’s simple, day-to-day stuff that keeps us occupied from morning until evening.
