K P Home Needs

We have been running K P Home Needs for a while now from our spot at 7/3, 1St Street in Bharath Nagar. It is just a small place in Madipakkam where we keep things people need for their houses. I started this because I live nearby and realized it was a long walk to the main market for simple items. Most of the people who come in are our neighbors from the same street. We know most of them by name. The shop is a bit small and the shelves are quite full, so you have to look carefully to find what you want. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance. My nephew helps me out in the evenings when he is back from his college classes. It gets very hot in the afternoons here, so we usually keep the fan running on high. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit in the dark and talk to whoever is passing by. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. It is just a regular shop. I spend a lot of time dusting the boxes because the road outside is always busy and kicks up a lot of dirt. We open early in the morning so people can pick things up on their way to work. It’s a quiet life but it keeps us busy enough. We just try to keep the stuff people ask for in stock.
