Junior Mechanical Engineer Trainee

I spend most of my days over at Plot No 28 in Vima Square, which is tucked away in the NGO Colony area of Tirunelveli. Being a Junior Mechanical Engineer Trainee means I'm usually the one getting my hands dirty while the more experienced guys tell me what I’m doing wrong. It is a learning process and every day feels a bit different depending on what machines come in or what parts need fixing. The workshop isn't the biggest but we make it work with the space we have. Tirunelveli gets incredibly hot so by noon we are all usually looking for a bit of shade or a cold drink. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning everywhere; it’s a real workspace with tools scattered around and the smell of oil in the air. We have a routine where we start early to beat the worst of the sun. Sometimes the neighbors from NGO Colony pop their heads in just to see what’s going on. I’m still figuring out all the technical stuff but being here at Vima Square is a good start for me. It’s honest work and we don’t try to pretend it’s anything other than a busy mechanical shop.
