Jeyaraj Hardwares is sitting right at 24, Karpagavinayagar Koil Street. We’re over in East Tambaram, which is a busy little neighborhood. Our shop is tucked in among the other houses and stores on this street. It’s a typical hardware place, so we’ve got shelves full of all sorts of things. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific bolt or tool, but we usually know which corner it’s tucked into. We’ve been here for a long time now. The street can be narrow, but people manage to get to us. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us behind the counter. We see a lot of the same faces every week, people from the neighborhood fixing up their homes. It’s a friendly place to work. We talk about the weather or local news while we help people find what they need. We don't try to be a big corporate store. We just want to provide the basic things people around East Tambaram need for their daily repairs. The shop is a bit old, and maybe it could use a coat of paint, but it works for us. We’re just local people running a local shop on Koil Street, nothing more to it than that really. We open up early and stay until the work is done. It’s a steady life and we are happy enough with how things go here.
