Jaybee Engineering Works

Jaybee Engineering Works is just a place on Warakadam Road in Venkatapuram where we get things done. Most days, it starts pretty early before the sun gets too hot over Ambatur. You can hear the machines running from the street. It’s not a quiet spot, but that’s just how an engineering shop is. People usually find us at 49-A. We have been here for a while now, and the walls show it. There is grease on the floor and tools scattered on the benches, but everyone knows where everything is. If you walk in, you might have to wait a minute because someone is usually busy with a lathe or a welding torch. We don't have a fancy reception area. There is just a small desk with some old papers and a calendar. The guys here wear blue overalls that aren't very blue anymore. We drink tea from the stall around the corner twice a day. When it rains, the sound on the metal roof is so loud you can’t hear yourself think. We just keep working through it. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside on the steps until it comes back. It's a simple operation. We deal with metal, we fix things that are broken, and we try to get the orders out so the trucks can take them away. That’s about all there is to it here in Venkatapuram.
