Our spot is at number 25 on Ramanuja Iyer Street in Old Washermanpet. It’s a very old part of Chennai, and the streets can be quite narrow and crowded. We are situated near the lane that leads to Bombay Hotel, which is a place almost everyone around here knows. Dealing with the traffic in North Chennai is a whole different experience. We have to be very patient when we are out with the learners because there are cycles, carts, and pedestrians everywhere. The office itself is small and tucked away, just like most of the buildings in this neighborhood. We keep our records in big binders and try to keep the dust off the desk, though it’s a losing battle with the street so close. People from the nearby houses often just pop their heads in to ask questions about the license process. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the area well. It’s the kind of place where you know your neighbors and the tea stall guy around the corner. We spend the day shifting between the office and the cars, making sure everything is on time. It gets very busy in the evenings when people come back from their jobs. The lighting in the street isn't the best at night, so we usually wind down before it gets too dark. It’s just a regular local business in a busy part of town where we try our best.
