You can find us at number 11/23 near the Srinivasa Perumal Sannathi Salai in Perungalathur. We have been teaching people how to drive around Chennai for a good many years now. The office is small and usually has a few people waiting for their turn or asking about the license process. Driving in Chennai is not for the faint of heart, so we spend a lot of time teaching people how to be careful and stay calm. We have a few cars that we use for lessons. They aren't new, but they work fine and have the extra pedals on our side for safety. Some days the humidity is really high and the air conditioning in the cars has to work overtime. We take people out on the main roads and through the smaller streets so they get a feel for both. It’s a lot of repeating the same instructions over and over, but that’s how people learn. We help with the paperwork for the driving tests too, which can be a bit of a headache with all the forms. The walls of the office are covered with photos of students who have passed their tests over the years. Some of them are faded from the sun. We have an old clock that ticks quite loudly, which is the only sound when no one is talking. We keep a bowl of hard candies on the desk for people who are feeling a bit nervous after their first time in traffic. It’s just a simple way to make a living, and it feels good when someone finally passes.
