Down on Thambuchetty St., at number 152, you have to head up to the 2nd floor to find us. This street is always crowded with people and scooters, so getting here can be a bit of a climb, especially with the stairs. We’ve been Industrial Engineers & Manufacturers for quite some time in this building. The rooms are filled with old cabinets and desks that are piled high with drawings and technical manuals. It’s not a modern glass building, but it has character. The windows look out over the street, so we hear all the city noise while we work. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when we have a lot of materials coming in, but we make it work. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get things done. We use the space for designing and putting smaller components together. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, we just open the windows wider and keep talking through the projects. There’s a certain way we do things here, a bit old-fashioned maybe, but it’s reliable. We don’t use fancy software for everything; sometimes a pencil and a long ruler are better. People walk up those two flights of stairs because they know we’re actually here doing the work ourselves, not just sitting behind a computer screen all day long. We keep the kettle going for most of the morning to stay sharp.
