Our place is at Centre Point, specifically units 221 and 222 on Avvaishanmugam Salai. Gopalapuram is a busy part of the city, and our furniture company has been a fixture here for quite some time. When you walk in, it smells like wood and upholstery fabric. We aren't trying to be a high-end designer studio; we just make furniture that people can actually sit on without it breaking. We have a lot of sofas and dining tables scattered around the floor. Sometimes it’s hard to walk through the showroom because we’ve squeezed in too much stock. The staff here has been around for years and they know which wood lasts and which doesn't. We spend our mornings checking the latest shipments and making sure the finishes are smooth. Traffic on the Salai can be a nightmare during rush hour, so we try to schedule our deliveries for the early morning. It’s a lot of physical work, moving heavy wardrobes and bed frames around. We don't have a fancy mission statement or anything like that. We just want to sell decent furniture to people who need it. If a drawer sticks, we fix it. It's a straightforward way to earn a living. The neighborhood has changed a lot, with new shops opening up all the time, but we’re still here in the same spot, doing the same thing every day.
