Kevin Furniture

Our shop is on the 100 Feet Road in Vadapalani, which is a very busy part of town. The address is a bit confusing because there is an old number 68/4 and a new number 40/4, but most people just look for us near the Sivan Koil temple. If you get to that landmark, you are basically here. Kevin Furniture has been at this location for a good while. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of chairs, tables, and cabinets pushed together to make space for walking. The traffic on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai is constant, so you can always hear the horns and the buses going by outside. We spend a lot of time moving pieces around so people can see the wood properly. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. There is usually a bit of sawdust on the floor because we are always adjusting things or unpacking new arrivals. The staff here just wears regular clothes and we don't have a formal reception or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy. We try to keep things organized, but when a big delivery comes, the whole floor gets covered in bubble wrap and cardboard for a few hours. It’s just how it goes in a furniture shop. We stay until the shutters go down late in the evening.
