Our little spot is Room No. 9 on the first floor of the City Center building. We are located at 66 Thirumalai Pillai Road, which most people know because it’s so close to Vani Mahal in T. Nagar. That area is always packed with people shopping or going to concerts, so the traffic is something we just have to live with. Metalbeds (I) Pvt. Ltd.3.520 is a small office, mostly used for managing orders and talking to people. Since we’re in T. Nagar, the building itself is always humming with activity from the other shops. Inside Room 9, it’s a bit tight. We have a couple of desks and some photos of the bed frames we make pinned to the wall. The carpet is a bit old and has a few stains from spilled coffee. We don’t have a big showroom here; it’s more of a place to handle the business side of things. Chennai heat can be brutal, so the window AC unit is usually rattling away in the background. It makes a lot of noise, but we’d melt without it. We get a lot of phone calls throughout the day, and sometimes it’s hard to hear over the sounds of the street outside. It’s a very ordinary office in a very busy part of town. We just come in, do our work, and try to avoid the worst of the rush hour traffic when we leave in the evening.
