Our spot is right on Royapettah Road, No 14. If you know where the Pilot Theatre is, we are basically right opposite to it. It’s a very busy part of Chennai, so there is always a lot of noise from the buses and the bikes zooming past. The police station is also very close by, which makes the area feel quite safe, though it’s always crowded. Inside the office, it’s a bit quieter, but you can still hear the city moving outside. We’ve got a small space here. It’s packed with chairs and some old cupboards where we keep everything filed away. The walls are covered in some old calendars and a few notes pinned up. Being in Royapettah means there is always somewhere to grab a quick coffee or some tiffin nearby. Most of us have been working here for years, so we know the local shopkeepers and the people who park their carts outside. We don’t really have a big lobby or a receptionist. You just walk in and see us working. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we have visitors, but we make it work. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, but it does the job. It’s just a regular Chennai office where we get on with our marketing tasks every day and try to stay cool in the heat of the afternoon while the traffic crawls along outside.
