Hindustan Traders

Hindustan Traders is based in Ganga Nagar, Kodambakkam. We are on the third floor of a building on 4th Cross Street. If you know Chennai, you know that Kodambakkam is a busy area with narrow streets and lots of movement. Our office is a bit of a climb because the building does not have a lift, so we are all quite used to the stairs by now. The space inside is fairly small, mostly filled with filing cabinets, desks, and samples of the goods we trade. It is a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. We spend most of our day on the telephone talking to various suppliers or checking on the status of our deliveries. The heat in the afternoon can be a bit much, but we have a couple of strong fans that keep the air moving. We do not have a big team, just a few of us who handle the buying, selling, and all the paperwork that comes with it. There is nothing fancy about how we work. We just sit at our desks, keep track of our ledgers, and try to make sure everything is sorted out by the end of the day. We usually have our tea brought in from the stall downstairs. It is a very local way of doing business, and we have been in this spot for a long time. We just keep the trade going and deal with whatever comes up.
