Hatch Architecture & Interiors

Our little office is tucked away on Kamarajar Salai in Teynampet. It's actually right near that Royal Snacks place on Eldams Road, which is pretty handy when we’re working late and need something to eat. We do architecture and interior work, but we aren't the type to show up with a bunch of fancy presentations that nobody understands. We started Hatch because we wanted to work on real homes for real people in Chennai. Sometimes the houses here are old and need a lot of repairs before you can even think about making them look nice. Other times it's a new flat that feels like a box. We spend our days drawing up plans, arguing with contractors, and making sure the tiles aren't crooked. It's dusty work more often than not. Being in Teynampet means we're pretty central, so we get all sorts of folks coming in. Some want a whole new house built from scratch, and others just want to fix up their kitchen so it actually works properly. We don't use a lot of big words. If a wall is in the wrong place, we say so. It’s just about making a space liveable and making sure it doesn't fall apart in five years. We've got our desks piled with samples and blueprints, and there's usually a bit of a mess, but that's how we work. It's honest work and we like seeing a project finally get finished. We just take it one day at a time.
