Harsha Aluminium Company

Our shop is at 11/313 in J J Nagar, over in Mugappair East. It’s a decent area, though it gets quite crowded in the evenings. We handle a lot of aluminum work here. Mostly it is cutting frames for windows or making sections for doors. The floor is usually covered in small silver shavings because someone is always sawing something. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful where we step. There are three of us working here most days. We started out small and stayed that way because it is easier to manage. The tools we use are basic but they work fine for what we do. We don’t spend much time on the computer or doing paperwork unless we really have to. Most of our day is spent measuring things and making sure the edges are straight. Sometimes a customer comes in with a sketch on a scrap of paper, and we try to figure out how to make it. It is practical work. The heat can get pretty bad in the summer since the roof is low, so we keep the fans running all day long. We don’t have a big sign out front, just the name on the wall. People in the neighborhood know where we are. We just try to get the orders finished on time so we can clear some space in the shop. We like the work because it keeps our hands busy.
