Our shop is located at 36/14 on Errabalu Chetty Street in the Parrys neighborhood. Parrys is one of the oldest and busiest parts of Chennai, and Errabalu Chetty Street is famous for hardware. It is a very narrow street, so getting goods delivered is always a bit of a challenge with the cycles and carts everywhere. We sell all kinds of hand tools, power tools, and general hardware items that people need for construction or home repair. The shop is quite deep and goes back further than you would think from the street. We have boxes stacked right up to the ceiling in some places, and we know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. The heat in Chennai can be quite intense, especially in the afternoons when there isn't much of a breeze in these tight streets. We keep a few fans going, but it’s still a warm place to work. Most of our customers are regulars who have been buying from us for years. We don't really do any advertising; we just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to show up. It’s a simple life of counting nuts and bolts and making sure we have enough hammers in stock. Sometimes we sit out front on stools when things are quiet and watch the people go by while eating lunch.
