We are located over on Muthiyal Naicken Street in Purasaiwalkam. If you have ever spent any time in this part of Chennai, you already know it is always buzzing with people and bikes. Our spot at number 21 isn't hard to find if you know the local landmarks nearby. We handle the guest service side of things for Deccan Airlines from this office. It gets quite warm here in the afternoons, especially during the summer months, but we keep the fans going and just get on with the paperwork and bookings. It is a lot of talking on the phone and trying to sort out schedules for people who are traveling. The street right outside is usually very noisy, with scooters zipping past and people shouting to one another, but inside the office, we try to keep things a bit more organized. We aren't a huge airport terminal or anything; it’s just a local office where we sort out all the ground-level stuff that needs doing. Most of us have been working in this office for years, so we have gotten to know the regulars who come in for help. We don't have any fancy uniforms or anything like that when we are just here in the office. It’s mostly about making sure people get their tickets and their questions answered properly. Sometimes the internet connection is slow or a flight gets delayed, and that can make things a little hectic for a while. But that is just a part of the job we do. We usually take our breaks at the small tea stalls right around the corner. It is a busy life, but it keeps us on our toes every day.
