We are over at 19, on the II Main Road in R.A. Puram. The building is an older one, formerly number 10, so some folks get confused finding us at first. We have been working with wood for a long time, mostly teak because that is what people ask for. There’s always that specific smell of sawdust and varnish in the air when you walk in. It’s a bit dusty, honestly. We spend our mornings checking the grains of the wood and making sure the cuts are straight. Grand Teak Furniture (India) Pvt. Ltd has been in this spot for years, and the neighborhood has changed around us quite a bit. Traffic on the main road can be a headache when we’re trying to load the trucks. We don’t do much advertising; usually, someone just remembers their parents bought a chair from us and they come back. Sometimes the finish takes longer to dry than we thought because of the humidity here. We just wait it out. Our workers have been with us for a long stretch, some since they were kids. It’s not a high-tech factory. It’s just benches, hand tools, and a lot of patience. If you come by, you’ll probably see us moving planks around or arguing over a joinery detail. It is just how things go here in R.A. Puram.
