Our place, Asian Wires And Springs, is located at New No. 23 Old No. 8A Kattabomman Street in Ambal Nagar, Ekkattuthangal. It’s a busy part of the city and we’ve been here for quite some time now. When you walk inside, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of metal and the stacks of wire coils everywhere. It’s not a fancy showroom by any means. We have rolls of different gauges sitting on the floor and springs of all sizes tucked into various bins. Some days the shop gets pretty dusty, especially when we’re moving a lot of stock around, but that’s just part of the job. Most of the staff have been here for years, so we all know where everything is, even if it looks a bit disorganized to someone else. The street outside is usually full of traffic, which makes getting deliveries in and out a bit of a challenge sometimes. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we really have to. Most of our work is done by hand or with the machines in the back. It’s a simple operation and we don’t try to make it sound like more than it is. We just focus on getting the wires and springs sorted for whoever needs them. During the summer, it gets really hot in the shop, so we keep the big fans running all day long. It’s a practical way to spend the day, and we like being part of the neighborhood here.
