East India Furniture

Our shop, East India Furniture, is over in R A Puram, right near Kaliappa Hospital. Finding the place can be a little confusing because of how the house numbers work here. We are at New No 12, though some people still know it as Old No 6. It is a fairly quiet spot on 2nd Main Road. Inside the shop, it usually smells like fresh wood and polish. We don't have one of those fancy showrooms with bright lights and perfect displays. Instead, you will see stacks of wood, pieces we are currently working on, and tools scattered around the benches. It is a small team here, and we spend our time making things and fixing up old furniture for people in the neighborhood. We aren't trying to be the biggest business in Chennai. We just like making things that actually stay together. If the door is open, someone is usually sanding or hammering away at something. We have customers who have been coming to us since their children were small, and it is always nice to see those familiar faces again. We don't do much advertising at all. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they were visiting the hospital nearby. Sometimes we forget to turn the sign out front, but we are almost always there during the day. It is a simple setup, and we like it that way.
