We are located at No:22/65 in Girija Nagar. It is on Vatharajan Street, right near the Tolget area in Tiruvottiyur. The air here usually smells a bit like the sea and the industrial shops nearby. Our workshop is not very big, but we have enough space for the tools we use. The floors are concrete and have some marks from where we move the heavy parts around. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. It helps pass the time when we are doing repetitive tasks. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. Vatharajan Street is a narrow one, so parking can be a bit of a gamble. Most of us just walk or take the bus. We have a couple of old desks where we keep the sketches and the measurements. It’s a bit messy with pencils and rulers everywhere. Tiruvottiyur is an old part of the city, and it feels that way too. We know the guys in the shop next door, and we often borrow tools from each other. It is a practical way to live. We don’t spend much time worrying about how the office looks. As long as the work gets done and the machines are fixed, we are satisfied with how things are going. It’s a simple life of grease and metal but it’s what we know best.
