Crown Engineering Company

Out here at No:55 in the Industrial Estate in Perungudi, things stay pretty busy. Crown Engineering Company is basically a workshop where we deal with all sorts of mechanical tasks. It’s an older building, and the walls have seen a lot of projects come and go over the years. The air in Perungudi usually smells like exhaust and hot metal, which is fine by us. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot, though the shed stays warm anyway. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write glossy brochures. Most of what we do is just straightforward engineering work. If a part needs fixing or a frame needs welding, we just get on with it. We have our fair share of old tools that still work better than the new stuff sometimes. You might have to step over some cables or a stray toolbox if you walk in, as we aren't the best at keeping things perfectly tidy when we're in the middle of a big job. It’s a bit dusty, and the noise from the neighbors in the estate never really stops. We like it this way because it’s where real work happens. No one here is trying to impress anyone; we’re just making sure the engineering is solid and the day’s work gets finished before we head home. The fans we have hanging from the ceiling don't do much when it's humid, but they're better than nothing.
